Ellis Myles will no longer be able to play for the football club following a crown court trial on Monday.

Ellis will serve a custodial sentence following an incident that occurred in the summer of 2013, long before his time at the club.

Although the club were not aware of this incident when he came to the club, first team manager David Staff has made the following comment ‘It was only very recently Ellis approached me and spoke about a pending trial.

Without knowing the specifics of the case, Ellis spoke to me at length about bad decisions he had made and showed remorse for his actions. He has always been respectful to me so that is how I judged him. He has always conducted himself impeccably around the football club and I’ve found him a charming, enthusiastic young man.

There is no way I can condone his actions and, with the details of the case becoming apparent, he has clearly made some bad decisions for which he will now pay a heavy price.

This shows how difficult it can be for young players who have set their sights on a professional career but are released by a professional club after several years in their academy system.
