Jon Challinor made an instant impact to help Stamford maintain their unbeaten start to the Southern League Premier Division Central campaign on Monday.

Challinor scored a second half brace with his first goal coming just two minutes after his introduction as a substitute to earn the Daniels a victory in their home clash with Biggleswade at the Zeeco Stadium. Stamford had found themselves trailing at the break despite a dominant first half performance, but they broke down Biggleswade's defensive resistance after the break with Challinor twice combining with fellow substitute Connor Bartle to make it five games undefeated for the table toppers.

The Daniels made two changes to their starting line-up following Saturday's draw at Bishop's Stortford with Will Glennon and Tobias Liversidge coming in for Luke Redfern and Ollie Clark.

Biggleswade arrived at the Zeeco Stadium still looking for their first victory of the league season but, after drawing three of their opening four games, were likely to provide testing opposition for Graham Drury's side. Stamford started strongly and enjoyed plenty of possession in a dominant opening to the contest.

Jack Duffy saw an early header held by Jack Berman in the Biggleswade goal while Glennon put an effort wide at the back post from Duffy's flick on. A posse of Biggleswade challenges then kept Rob Morgan at bay after a driving run from the Stamford skipper.

The visitors started to come more into the contest as the half wore on and Ed Panter flashed a cross-shot over the Stamford goal while Luke Pyman just failed to get on the end of a dangerous cross at the back post. A slick Stamford move saw Harry Vince's slide-rule pass find Morgan out wide and his centre was turned goalwards by Duffy, but Berman was again down to save.

Duffy dragged another effort wide after a rebound had fallen into his path while Liversidge also curled a shot past the far post from Vince's quickly taken free kick. Stamford's best chance of the first half fell to Lee Shaw as he got the wrong side of the Biggleswade defence only to see his well-struck shot rattle the underside of the crossbar before rebounding to safety.

The Daniels then fell behind three minutes before the break against the run of play as Panter's near post corner crept through a mass of bodies before trickling into the Stamford net. There was still enough time for Stamford to create another good chance as Vince's back post cross found James Blunden who steered his shot wide.

Biggleswade came out for the second half intent on sitting on their lead as they defended in numbers with the onus on Stamford to break them down. The visitors also had plenty of pace to trouble Stamford on the counterattack and Nagheeb Ibrahim dragged a shot just wide of the home goal with Panter put another effort past the post.

Stamford hadn't created the same amount of chances as the first half but were denied by the upright when Elijah Hearn turned a dangerous cross against his own post with Duffy unable to scramble home the rebound.

Morgan had to make a timely intervention at the other to head away a Panter cross with Ibrahim waiting to pounce. Tom Siddons, Connor Bartle and Jon Challinor were all introduced as Stamford sought a way back into the contest and the latter two combined for Stamford's equaliser.

Bartle cut in from the left and laid the ball into Challinor's path and he duly guided his finish into the bottom corner of the Biggleswade net. There was still plenty of time left for Stamford to find a winner and it duly arrived in the 85th minute as Bartle's near post cross was deftly turned home by Challinor.
