The long awaited new league structure has finally been annouced by the RFU. Nearly three years in the planning it delivers the most significant changes in 30 years to the Adult Male Competition Structure.
The new structure is intended to deliver:
For the Saints at Level Six it has seen a removal of the long hauls to Bristol and Gloucestershire and a renewal of traditional rivalries with Truro and Wadebridge Camels. The longer trips take us into Somerset against familiar foes of recent seasons in Brdigwater & Albion, North Petherton and Chard. There are sorties over the Tamar to Crediton and Sidmouth as well as meeting of old aquaintances at Newton Abbot and Teignmouth. There is only one new face in the Division for the Saints that is a trip to Dorset to face Sherborne.
The 12 team league means two less home games than previous seasons but there is a prospect of national cup competition running through April.
The Sinners are one of only two second teams in Counties 2 - Cornwall and they take their place with Redruth IIs alongside such first team luminaries in Bodmin, Hayle, Helston, Liskeard-Looe Newquay Hornets, Saltash, St Ives and Veor. The 12 team league is completed with familiar faces in Camborne SoM and Illogan Park who the Sinners played in last season's Kernow League.
Exciting times for the Sinners who will be relishing the challenges ahead!
