Early season progress shows

On Sunday October (yes, October!) 1st, our U9s took part in the RFU Education Day held at Truro RFC.
This was the first chance for us to see how the team are developing against clubs from the rest of the County.
In short, they are doing tremendously well and all the boys should be proud of the work they have put in so far.
Once parental parking challenges had been navigated, we had a full contigent of 11 eager Saints in a typically damp but mild Cornish setting.
After some warm-ups overseen by the team from the RFU, we settled into some games against the other teams in our group - Bodmin, Falmouth and Penzance. It was hard to believe that they have only had 3 training sessions with these new rules and the start of contact rugby.
It was wonderful to see them starting to come together as a team and putting the principles and techniques that Trevor and Craig (thanks for all you're doing guys!) have been working on into practice. We saw some really good passing and support play in attack coupled with great tackling and commitment in defence.
Special mention to Andrew and Max for donning Bodmin's colours and turning out for them to ensure that the teams were even - well done lads (Max, hope your ear's okay!).
So, a great experience and all the boys were a credit to St Austell Rugby Club - see you next week for a training session to work on the new stuff you learnt!
