Saints are finding defences in this higher league a lot tighter and must go that extra yard to unlock them.
A lot of matches were called off due to waterlogged pitches but Tregorrick Park drains well and the match was never in doubt with conditions under foot perfect.

Crediton started with the wind behind them and were soon on the offensive. First, full back Ross Gillian converted a penalty when Saints were caught offside and the home team continued to get on the wrong side of the ref and gave away two penalties in quick succession to leave Crediton with a line out 10 yards from the Saints' line.
The ball was caught and the heavier Crediton forwards drove over the line for hooker Bobby Mugford to touch down and leave St Austell 8-0 down after 10 minutes.
Slowly Saints dragged themselves back into the game and started moving the visiting pack around the park and were denied a try when the referee adjudged the final pass forward. After pounding away at the Crediton line, on the half hour Saints finally got their reward.
Scrum half Matt Shepherd spotted a gap and was through the first line of defence with flanker Robb Jeffs in support, the latter exchanged passes with no 8 Adam Kellow and had the pace to touch down wide out.
From the restart Saints gave away a needless penalty for Crediton to stretch their lead through Gillian and make the half-time score 11-5.
Saints, playing with the wind behind them in the second half, must have felt confident of overhauling Crediton but the visitors, who had an edge in the scrums, also defended like demons and wave after wave of St Austell attack was soaked up and suddenly time was running out, although the effort could not be faulted. Just a little bit of guile was needed to break down the stubborn defence.
Saints were throwing caution to the wind and deep into injury time they lost a ball against the head of a scrum and fly half Neil Branton was on hand to support his winger and score in the corner to make the final score a flattering 16-5 to Crediton.
This Saturday Saints are without a game.
They were due to meet Saltash in the Cornwall Cup but Saltash have a rescheduled league game against Exeter Saracens after the match was rained off last Saturday.
