The Saints will have learned from facing opposition who enjoy a position 2 leagues higher.

Camborne 25 - 0 St Austell

If Camborne who are 2 leagues higher than their opposition thought that this game was going to be easy they had another think coming 17 points in the last 15 minutes was the difference between the two sides, these scores resulting from the Home side realising that they were not going to get through the Saints back line and using driving mauls would be the only way to beat the Saints.
The first half was scrappy in wet conditions and it was on the 14th minute when Camborne opened the scoring with a penalty the Saints had a chance to reply shortly after but Shepherds kick slipped narrowly wide, it continued as both teams relentlesssly attacked each other from spoiled and spilled possession. The Saints were winning the one on one battles and Camborne were only just able to contain them. On thirty minultes a penalty in the Saints 22 enabled the home side to rumble the ball over the saints line. Some very unsporting celebratory taunting actions from Cambornes Try scorer Priddy were dutifully ignored by the visitors and the Conversion was missed. The half closed out at 8-0 and there really wasn't much between the two teams, the Saints had really rattled the home side.
The first 17 minutes of the second half nearly was a carbon copy of its predecessor, Saints had replaced prop Jack Hughes with Hambly, but an injury to Adam Kellow then just minutes later Adam Pearce had to retire through injury, these enforced changes that changed the teams dynamic, but not their strength with Sean Haley and Darren Thompson entering the affray. Unfotunately though It was also at this point where Camborne decided to stop playing an expansive game, stick the ball in the forwards and seal the win, Saints changed Ian venner for Matt Holliday for the final 10 minutes but they were unable to further compete against Cambornes maul.
With the Top of the Table clash at Bideford next week and after this "stand up and be counted performance" the Saints are hungry for the win.
