Our final match of the season was the Y9 Wigan & Leigh Champion School Final at Orrell Stadium. Our Y9 team were surprise finalists in this competition and were up against reigning champions St Mary's (Leigh). After a great start they led 12-0 at half-time, but were unable to keep St Mary's out in the second half and were eventually defeated 19-12.
This was a great achievement for this team after an indifferent start in Y7 and Y8. They are now among the top schools in the Wigan & Leigh area and will compete next season as Wigan's top seeded school in the NW Counties Cup. All players and squad should be very proud of their efforts and success this season.
