The match started in typical 'first game of the season' style with both teams sizing each other up and indeed sizing themselves up with new recruits in the ranks on both sides.
It was actually Seaford who got the better of the opening exchanges and if it hadn't been for Tom O'Donnell blazing over the bar on 7 minutes and their centre-forward James Baurer squandering a close range header a few minutes later, it would have been the hosts who had taken the lead.
However, as the first-half progressed we settled and gained in confidence and on twice Sean Pickup came close to giving us the lead with unlucky near misses.
On 40 minutes though, the deadlock was broken when Chad Milner floated home a precision free-kick from the edge of the box to give us the lead.
Barely 2 minutes later Chad came within a whisker of doubling our lead when he got on the end of a cross from David Harris only to be foiled by a superb point-blank save by Seaford keeper, Lee Aylward.
Half-time - Seaford 0 Steyning 1
After the break we continued where we'd left off in the first-half and plugged away mercilessly to try and increase our advantage.
Fine efforts from Chad Milner and Matt Dodd came close to adding to to our lead and a couple of rather questionable off-side decisions could well have denied us.
However, we stuck with it and on 78 minutes after combining well with Lee Early, Chad Milner slotted home his and our second to effectively put the game out of Seaford's reach.
We pretty much dominated the second-half with everyone putting in a good shift and it wasn't until the closing stages that Ben Rose was really called into action, saving well at close range from the hosts' Michael Flynn.
The final whistle was greeted with delight by all those who travelled with 3 well earned points in the bank!
