Shifnal never recovered from an abject first 20 minutes, during which they were fortunate only to concede two goals. The Hereford side opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, KIER COWLEY latching on to a through ball and coolly slotting past Jake James from 15 yards. James made a good save from Kalum Wildig’s 25-yard after 12 minutes, but he was powerless to prevent the second goal on 19 minutes. A long ball was played down the right wing, and when the ball was pulled back, WILDIG executed a perfect chip over the keeper from 20 yards. Town managed to cling on until the interval without further damage, but rarely looked like scoring themselves.

The second half was more even, but the nearest the hosts came to a goal was when Todd Brindle turned and fired over from the edge of the penalty area in the 57th minute. The third goal followed some dreadful defending, the ball being allowed to come inside for the unmarked COWLEY, who stroked it home from 10 yards.
