St George took all three points in a comfortable victory over a depleated Congesbury.
St George started positively with a great chance coming as early as the fourth minute when Adam Bell, playing in a forward role was able to hold off the defender to get a good shot away from15 yards which keeper Julio Bullen did well to save, low down to his right.
2 minutes later, a well delivered Dylan Hebblethwaite free kick was met by the head of defender Matt Robertson who's towering header was agonisingly wide.
St George continued to pile on the pressure with the lively Bell causing problems for the visiting defence and forcing Bullen in to a string of fine saves. With 16 minutes on the clock, a great run along the edge of the 18 yard box by Benjamin Collins saw Bullen at full stretch to tip the ball on to the post.
Congesbury did not register an attempt on the Home side's goal until the 19th minute and can count themselves unfortunate not to have taken the lead against the run of play when a driving shot from the edge of the boxt was acrabatically tipped on to the bar by goalkeeper Alfie Tricks.
The frame of the goals were taking a battering as St George were next to find the upright following great interplay between Ben Stitfall and Tom bell saw midfielder stitfall's cannon back with the keeper well beaten.
With 27 minutes gone the deadlock was finally broken. Adam bell evaded the defence on the left hand side to put a lofted cross in to the box for brother Thomas to head home from 3 yards.
St George did not rest on their laurells and continued to press with Adam Bell having the best chances. on 39 minutes, Hebblethwaite delivered an inch perfect ball from the left flank which just managed to eclipse the towering centre back to land at Bell's feet. With time on the ball he connected almost too well and blazed over with the goal at his mercy.
With 2 minutes of the half remaining, there was still chance for one more effort from veteran Adam Bell as a pass his first time touch took him past the defence once more to leave him one on one with the keeper who made himself big to make an unbelievable save.
St George started the second half in much the same fashion, playing free spirited football and with just 3 minutes gone Ben Stitfall doubled their advantage. Adam and Thomas Bell combined well to set the younger Bell free inside the box. His perfectly weighted ball set up the attacking Stitfall who finished with aplomb.
Matt Robertson again came close causing problems from a set piece in which the keeper managed to get a hand to and tip around the post to keep the scores and 2-0 as the home side continued to press in waves.
With St Geoge in control, manager Jim Williams made the change. Lewis Bisacre replaced Adam Bell up front with Harry Ford coming on for the impressive Benjamin Collins.
On 78 minutes the two substitutes combined to make it 3-0. Congesbury had a great chance, hitting the underside of the bar which Rob Warden in the St George defence scrambled clear. With the ball at the feet of the congesbury defender, Ford pressed early to nick the ball and set Bisacre away with a perfect ball. Bisacre had a great first touch to round the keeper and roll in to an empty net.
With just a minute on the clock, the home side sealed the rout with a rasping 20 yard drive from Matthew Willcox the hit the top corner. Thomas Bell managed to hold off the defender and with his back to goal laid the perfect ball off to Willcox to hit first time which left the keeper no chance.
Speaking after the game captain Thomas Bell sai "we were dispoointed with the result on saturday, especially to lose a 2 goal advantage so we knew we had to bounce back. The gaffer spoke before the agame about the importance of making chances count and whilst we feel we should have had a few more tonight, we are happy with scoreline and also the clean sheet. There are no easy games at this level so whilst it may appear we dominated, we still had to perform to get anything from the game and each and every player did that.
Match sponsors Andy Guria & Joe Heyes selected Thomas Bell as man of the Match.
