After last weeks penalty shoot-out knock out the boys were back in league action vs unbeaten Northants Brewery Colts.
The boys playing in yellow to give themselves some vitamin d in the pouring rain, were out of the traps like flying rabbits, Gavin remembered how to run and kick a ball this week played through an Ozilesque through ball to Wise, the right-back starting at right wing wasn't caught by surprise and his low shot come cross, ricocheted off the colts defender and in, some may say it was a great finish by the colts player, others say the ball was going on target so it counts, either way, it was 1-0.
After a few more minutes of good play by Still Men they were awarded a free-kick, three yards from the centre circle up stepped Brown, he sized up the keeper calculated that at 5 foot and a fag end if he got the ball somewhere near the bar it might cause some danger. The Sunday league Pirlo delivered exactly that leaving the keeper with no chance, a truly sumptious finish. 2-0
After that Colts started to get a little more into the game playing in their tricky number 12, but despite his dribbling ability he could seldom find a way past the back 4, Ellis standing strong and if he got beaten Jake "the wall" Sharp was there every time. Every now and then Colts would try to play down the right-hand side but then couldn't make it past Bromwich and self-proclaimed Sunday league beauty Buswell.
After a wasted corner by Still Men Colts hit us on the counter-attack down the right the bull was pulled back to the edge of the box and the shot was a great effort leaving Barker with no chance 2-1
The rest of the half was a fairly even contest with Gavin everywhere blocking passed and making tackles, some more amazing passed as he tried to play in Reynolds and Mlauzi but no keeper was really troubled for the rest of the half.
The second half Still Men were uphill and for the first 10 minutes Colts looked dangerous as their tricky 12 made some in roads, however what he has in dribbling ability he lacked in a left foot and finishing, hitting a few chances high and wide. After that Still Men began to dominate.
Brown and Gavin were owning the midfield, putting through so many great balls to Tambo, I think they were impressed with his close control on the touch line a little piece of skill saw him run the ball out of play, not sure how.
As the final 15 minutes went on Colts were getting more desperate with their challenges with some rather strong slide tackles going on and a few moves that they had picked up off John Cena, ultimately their frustration was their downfall as Reynolds went on the attack he played the ball to Bromwich who had already tested the wide spaces of the goal area but this time his show was like a shot in FIFA with the R1 button pressed, pure finesse and in to the bottom corner 3-1
That was not it for Still Men as a few minutes later Reynolds was clotheslined for a penalty and whilst that was all going on a Colts player wanted to know what he'd had for breakfast to make him play so well sticking his fingers down his throat and ultimately getting sent off. Reynolds then dusted himself down and made no mistake with the penalty.
As a reward he was subbed off which he did with a merry skip as Still Men merrily went on there way to another 3 points and 4 wins from 4
