With a thriving girls rugby league section, St Josephs Sharks are determined to build on last year in time for the new season!
With over 25 girls registered to play rugby league in the new RFL girls structure the teams at age groups U12s, U14s and U16s, and keen to build on the outstanding regional successes of last year and become a national force within female rugby league.
Huddersfield Giants, 2011 Top Tackler, Lee Gilmour and former U21s and England Womens Rugby League Player, Katie Butler, visited their latest training sessions to pass on their support expertise and encouragement. The training session was delivered by Huddersfield Giants in the Community Women and Girls Development Officer, Steve Beaty who will be continuing to support the development of female rugby league across Kirklees.
Steve Eastwood, St Josephs Sharks Girls Head Coach was delighted with the evening ‘We are keen to continue on our regional achievements from last year by providing more opportunities for local girls to participate in rugby league in a safe, fun and stimulating environment. To have continue support from the Huddersfield Giants and access to female role models such as Katie, will only inspire the girls to continue their involvement in the game.’
