U7's in house game

U7's in house game

shane carragher8 Mar 2015 - 08:44

An all St Joe's clash provides a very competitively and even contest with many highlights!

A gap in the regular league fixtures provided an opportunity for the U7's to battle it out against each other, similar ties in recent months have proven to be very beneficial. Saturdays game was no different, it was also the first time the boys have played 2x 20 minute half's instead of 4x 10 minute quarters and the boys took it well in their stride.

Recent training sessions have been of the high levels we expect from the boys and although I have said it before whenever we train well we always seem to put the same application into our matches so please carry on listening, behaving and applying yourselves as much as possible boys!

Yesterday the boys were split into two teams, playing for the Blues and being coached by Shane was Daniel, Lucas, Carlo, Kobe, Owain, Emmanuel and Oliver. On the Yellows and being coached by Chris was Travis, Zack, Jack, Keelan, Euan and Tom.

Well done to all the boys involved, I am sure everyone will see from the photo's and video's on our St Joe's U7 facebook page how much the boys battled and how well they played yesterday, individual match report below:

BLUE TEAM

Daniel - played very well in goal and on pitch. Daniel showed his defensive qualities many times as the Yellow's tried to get past him. Another consistent, impressive performance Daniel.

Lucas - Had many of his now famous "John Terry" moments yesterday, I even heard one of the parents enthusiastically compare Lucas to JT at one point in the game when Lucas made one of his many tackles. Lucas was also unlucky not to score with a great shot in the second half. I am sure I speak for all the boys in thanking you for bringing sweets down to share as it's your birthday. Enjoy Monday.

Carlo - Notched 4 more goals today and set up some great chances for his team-mates, a very impressive and accomplished attacking display Carlo. Last week Carlo scored from his own box when he was in goal and this week he bettered that by scoring from a corner! Is there anywhere on the pitch you cant score from? Great to see such fabulous goal, well done Carlo.

Kobe - This week Kobe once again made life very difficult for the Yellows, the work Kobe puts in his great and really helps his team out. Well done Kobe!

Owain - In the spirit of the game Owain helped both sides out today, he started of playing for the yellows and finished on the Blues side today when one of their team needed a break. Thanks Owain for helping all your team out! Owain once again showed how far he come in recent weeks with some fine dribbling.

Emmanuel - Played his first game for the U7's today, I am sure all the boys remember the first game they played and can relate to the pre-match nerves, it was very pleasing to see Emmanuel get stuck in today and didn't look out of place one bit. Emmanuel had a fine game and provided what was surely the pass of the match when he set up Carlo with a great sideways flick. Emmanuel was also unlucky not to get on the score sheet with what would have been a well deserved goal. Faultless debut Emmanuel, great stuff!

Oliver - Tried really hard today and was a nuisance for the Yellows to play against. Oliver is a really hard opponent to get past and he will never give up chasing the ball. Well done Oliver.

YELLOW TEAM

Travis - Was certainly picking up from where he left off on training Thursday, Shane & I are so pleased with how Travis is developing and the level of skill he now plays with. Travis had a penalty in the game which Carlo done very well to save. That goal is coming Travis! Keep it up!

Zack - is an all round player, Zack can run with the ball, tackle and also has an eye for goal. Zack had one of his best games yesterday for the U7's (as did many of the boys) and he really pressed the opposition today.

Jack - is one of the best listeners in the team, Jack is always alert and listens to advice given to him. This allows Jack to develop his game week on week, certainly a midfielder in years to come Jack has a great tenacity in his defending and he also loves getting forward and showed both traits of this yesterday. Well done Jack.

Tom - had another great chance to get on the score sheet yesterday, it seems like we say it a lot but Tom is great at getting in the right area at the right time. Well done Tom!

Euan - Kindly stepped in and helped the U7's out yesterday, Euan played the first half in goal and made some important saves and prevented some certain goals. In the second half Euan came on pitch and provided his team mates with a great balance and confidence. Euan made some great passes and showed what an asset he is to the U8 Kickhams.

Keelan - For me this was Keelans most complete performance to date, Keelan has taken on board everything that has been said to him and now his first thought is to find a team-mate rather than go on a solo run. There were some great passages of play for the Yellows and Keelan was often involved in them. Thanks to his bravery and desire to press the opposition defence Keelan scored what can only be described as a freak goal when the ball rebounded off him into the back of the net. His second goal was one of more quality when he took it round a defender and calmly slotted it home. Well done this weeks MAN OF THE MATCH.

Recap, boys well done today - Keep it up at training and matchdays!
