St.Marys U16 were stunned when CLS Lakeside hit seven past them.
The game didnt start well for us when a couple of challenges on Matthew Mensforth seen him go off injured within 5 mins. Alfie who was also carrying a back strain took Matthews place and Alfie also within the first 5 minutes of being on the pitch was unable to continue.
Dom Agnew then stepped in at centre half and looked very composed and comfortable in this position.
CLS Lakeside got the better of the chances in the first half and scored three goals, that wasnt to say St.Mary's didnt get any chances as we did but the luck was not on our side and we could not convert the ones we had or the CLS Lakeside goalkeeper saved them.
Second half and it was a similar storey where CLS Lakeside looked quicker, stronger and more up for the game than we did. They then scored a further 4 goals which totally knocked the stuffing out of us.
We have to learn from this but also move on and focus our attention to the game at home on Saturday 15th Sept at home to Willington.
The injury list seems to be getting longer with Liam Gibson, Ethan Neal, Matthew Mensforth, Jamie Talbot all out for this game with Alfie also a doubt.
