St.Mary's fell to their second defeat of the season against Willington. The game started well with both teams having equal amount of posession. St.Marys broke the deadlock on 20 mins when Callum Nichol pounced on a through ball to finish with style. St.Mary's then got caught with a ball over the top of the defence and the Willington player looped the ball over the static keeper. 5 mins later and Willington dealt St.Mary's a sucker punch when a good through ball found a Willington player who finished with power. 2-1 Willington. St.Mary's had their chances the best of which Olly Richardson found himself in a great position but unfortunatly couldnt find the net.
Second half and St.Mary's piled on the pressure and must have had 70% of the play but the Willington defence were resiliant, the best chance of the 2nd half was was when Callum back heeled a through ball to Adam who had the keeper to beat but the keeper closed the angle down well and the chance went begging.
This is how the game ended. A bitter blow after a good 2nd half performance.
We move on to another competative game v New Fordley next weekend with similar injury worries to key players.
