14 of our u14's help Bradley Stoke Community School make history!

Andrea Grant4 Feb 2016 - 15:37

Huge congrats are in order for the 14 of our u14's players who play for BSCS Community School Year 9 boys’ rugby team.

Yesterday they beat Chew Valley School yesterday in the quarter finals of the Super 8s competition. They will now progress to the semi final stage for the first time in the school’s history - that's the last 4 from all schools in South Gloucestershire, Bristol, BANES and North Somerset!!!

Their school coach said on Twitter "So proud of the Y9 boys after their efforts - never seen physical commitment like it in a school team..."
It was a thrilling 37-17 victory against formidable opponents, which shows just how strong our Year 9 team is. Credit was given to SMOB RFC, the coaches and dedication and sportsmanship of our players!

Captained admirably by Scott Barrowman and supported by vice-captain Archie Barber, TEAM BSCS set about scoring 17 unanswered points in the first half with our forwards dominating the breakdown on a boggy pitch. The team used their ‘pick and drive’ tactic to great effect with Alfie Bradley and Nick Fraser deciding the vital times to spread the ball to our speedy back line. Chew Valley fought back in the second half to bring the score back to 17-12 and the boys found themselves under serious pressure. Both teams traded points until we finally ran away with it due to a higher level of physical conditioning and desire bringing us out on top. Nick Lovelace was named as man of the match with an all-action, try-scoring performance.
