Cracking performance from the lads in a cracking game of football at Trewint Lane as the higher league team came away with a 1-0 victory but they knew they were in a game of football.

It was great to host our friends from Callington on Saturday in the 2nd round of the SWAZ Teamwear League Cup 2nd round. This was our 3rd attempt to get the game on as the last 2 had been postponed as Callington's The Marshfield lived up to its name.

We were delighted to welcome Corey Cleave back after his horrible injury sustained in our 2nd game of the season back in August. We were also proud to welcome the ECPL Committee who were going to make the draw for all their cups at half time.

We started really well and were dominating from kick off and then the only goal of the game came on the quarter hour when a lucky defensive deflection fell for the visitors striker who tapped home.

We continued to press throughout the game throwing everything we could at our visitors, but we just couldn't quite find the breakthrough after hitting the post twice and crossbar right at the death.

A Mike Kempthorne header from a free kick hit the inside of the post and bounced in to the goalies arms, which defined the game in one moment, so close yet so far.

Full time: St Minver 1sts 0 - 1 Callington Town 2nds

Sometimes you don't get what you deserve in football but we were all certainly very proud of the lads performance who pushed a very good visiting side all the way.

Congratulations to Callington who certainly knew they had been in a game and they now face Plymstock United at home in the 3rd round.

In the other draw made at half time by the League Committee, we have been drawn at home to Millbrook Reserves in the Roy Radford Division One Cup - Quarter Final, date tbc.

We now have a 2 week break until we return for a great trio of games over the festive period with Newquay at home on 16th, Roche at home on 23rd and then away at league leaders Wadebridge on Boxing Day.
