Rick Jones and Roger Andrew of Stockport SFA both win at the National ESFA awards.

In 2015, the Stockport Boys programme was ending, with nobody willing to take on the role and keep town team football alive in the borough. However, with the commitment of Rick Jones and Matt Henderson, they agreed to keep the association going, providing opportunities to the students in the area.

Fast forward 9 years, we now run football competitions for over 1,700 students, run three (soon to be four) town representative teams, complete several fundraisers each year, hold finals at Stockport County FC and have reached several national semi finals. It has certainly been a great time for us and for the students involved, and because of this, we were nominated for FOUR NATIONAL AWARDS!

On Saturday 15th June, staff headed down for the ESFA awards ceremony at Wolverhampton Wanderers stadium to celebrate the season with districts from up and down the country. Whilst former player, Matthew Crawford, and the association itself did not win their categories; both Rick Jones (secretary) and Roger Andrew (regular referee for Stockport School competitions) secured their awards.

Both Roger and Rick came up against some strong competition from Merseyside, London, Yorkshire and the Midlands, however it was great to see both of them earn the national awards. Rick and Roger do so much for the students in Stockport, and without them the Association would not be able to achieve what it does.
