North Kilworth Thunder v. Stoke Golding

North Kilworth Thunder v. Stoke Golding

The weather was fantastic and the football was even better!

My nerves can't take it, when will the ref blow the final whistle?
- Pete Hill

The team travelled away to play North Kilworth for our first away fixture of the season. We only had 7 players available to play today so we had to rely on every member of the team to run their socks off.

The game started with Zane in goals, Sam in defence, Alvaro, Jojo and Curtis in midfield and then Elliot and Henry up front. It was a really tough game with both teams being fairly evenly matched.

Zane pulled off some really good saves between the sticks and Sam put some really strong tackles preventing several further shots on goal. The midfield trio were everywhere on a very very big pitch, the coach was worried that their batteries may get flat, but no, Alvaro, Jojo and Curtis were everywhere and did themselves and the team proud. Up front both Elliot and Henry gave their all and were very unlucky not to score.

At half-time we changed a few things around which meant that Sam and Curtis took turns in goal. Both pulled off some cracking saves to keep the game alive. Jojo was able to put 2 balls in the net, the second goal was a really great strike that gave the keeper no chance.

It was the tightest and toughest game we have played this season so the kids should be really proud of themselves.

It was a fantastic game and the children from both teams were a real credit to their respective clubs. It was also really good of Dylan who came along to cheer his teammates on, we all look forward to his return as we missed him on the left today.
