The Battle of Bosworth

The Battle of Bosworth

Pete Hill14 Jun 2015 - 13:30

The team did themselves proud at the Battle of Bosworth Football Tournament on Sunday 14th June 2015

The team took part in a really well organised tournament at Market Bosworth on Sunday 14th June 2015.

There was eight teams split into two leagues with every team then going on to play in their very own final. In the first game we played Kirby Muxloe and then in the second game we played Market Bosworth. By the third game we were all now fully warmed up having loaded up with hot dogs and Tango lollies....there was no stopping us!!

In the third game we played Desford B where Curtis and Dylan were the first two Stoke Golding players to make it onto the score sheet. In the next game we played Coalville where Sam, Elliot and Jojo scored. Then in the final game we came up against Desford B again, this time Dylan and Henry slotted home and Curtis scored three.

What was really pleasing was the way that the team supported each other when things did not go so well, we got better every game powered on by Tango lollies.

Every player was asked to play in different positions throughout the tournament, in one game we had Rocco anchoring the defence where he went on to have a fantastic game making a number of really important tackles.

Elliot had a go as the centre forward and scored a goal. Jojo played in goals, in midfield and up front and gave his all. Zane O made the most of the smaller pitches with a number of really strong shots on goal. Sam had a go in goals, defence and midfield, he ran all over the pitch and by the end of the tournament he was exhausted.

Henry was like a dynamo with his determination being rewarded in the end with a good goal. Dylan scored a really good goal from a corner in what was a move straight off the training ground. At the end of the tournament we asked the kids who the trainer of the week was and they all voted for Curtis for the hard work he did in goal and for the superb hat-trick in the final game.

All in all it was a really good day, the kids should be proud of how they worked together as a team, for their behaviour on and off the pitch and for all of their hard work.
