STONE OLD ALLEYNIANS VETS – OVER 35s
The veterans over35s team have been back on familiar territory this weekend, competing in the Jersey Masters International Football Tournament for the third consecutive year.

In a group containing six teams, the Old Boys qualified through to the latter stages with eight points, winning two, drawing two and losing one.

The team was down to the bare bones, containing many injuries pre-tournament, and faced with a minimum of six games throughout the day.

Having qualified for the final, they faced Surrey based Sporting Kitz, previous past winners of the tournament, and the only team to inflict defeat upon us within the group stage, 1-0.

In a very close affair, the Old Boys went close with Jamie Riley hitting the bar. However, the scoreline remained a stalemate, 0-0 at full-time.

With the prospect of penalties, the Alleynians held their nerve and emerged victorious by a 5-4 scoreline. Andy Lindop scored the nail biting decisive penalty to clinch the silverware!

In winning the tournament, the team only conceded one goal, a fantastic achievement at any level.

Rob King won the overall Player of the Tournament and also won the Player’s Player of the Tournament from his teammates, incredibly defying his age by playing every single minute of the tournament.

Of the eighteen players, nine currently coach junior teams within the Club.

Across the whole squad every player has either; attended Alleyne’s Academy as a student, played for the Club’s adult first team or currently live within five miles of the school. Eleven players tick all three boxes.
