St Peter's secure record victory

A wonderful performance today! Always threatening up front and a "Pickford" at the back. But once again the compliments of our opponents was my highlight of the afternoon. "You are the nicest team we have played this season." So proud of you all!
- Paul Nicholl, Chairman

St Peter's returned to winning ways with a dominant 3-0 over Lansdowne United at East Brighton Park.

A large away following made the long trip to Whitehawk for this intriguing tie on a fine autumnal afternoon.

Manager Simon Kelly made several changes to the side that were unfortunate to lose 4-3 to Southwick Rangers B.

Muscle bound freak Andrew Stewart replaced Justin Chin in between the sticks with Chin busy performing several media appearances throughout Asia including a brief spell on the Singapore edition of "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here".

Kelly selected himself in defence alongside skipper Luke Atkins, Sandy Matthews and teen sensation Tom Milne.

A solid looking midfield of Jake Stimson, Mike Fletcher and Mike Jolley aimed to dominate the central battlefield and supply an live wire front three of Noah Smith, Tom Limebear and housewives favourite Gerard Tambyapin.

The Saints dominated from early on against a United side who were rooted to the bottom of the table and lacking in confidence.

The deadlock was broken when Noah a Smith netted his fifth goal of the season when he slotted the ball into the bottom corner from a tight angle. Smith had been torturing the United defence and was fully deserving of his goal.

Joy turned to confusion when a dog entered the field of play and had to be restrained by Saints star Dave Garrett who was bit on the face by the four legged beast. Rumours of the dog being planted by United and trained to take out a St Peter's player were unproven.

The visitors added a second when Gerard Tambyapin raced down the left wing and fired his effort across goal and into the bottom corner to secure his third goal of the season much to the delight of a raucous travelling support.

St Peter's had several more chances which went agonisingly close but it was United who went closest with their only real chance of the game when a header from close range was kept out by a very mediocre save by Andrew Stewart.

The only other talking point came when Simon Kelly had a brief scuffle with an opponent. Kelly later picked up his second yellow card of the season when he questioned what looked like an incorrect decision by referee Martyn King.

The two sides went in at half time with St Peter's firmly in control of the game.

A large East Brighton Park crowd were thrilled at half time as lifelong Lansdowne fan and former Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus performed her 2003 hit "All This Time" which left barely a dry eye in the house remaining.

Perhaps inspired by the powerful melodies of "The Scottish Aretha Franklin", St Peter's maintained their dominance throughout the second half.

St Peter's were dominant in possession and were creating chance after chance. New signing Mark Queen was brought on at left wing and began tormenting defenders at will.

It was Queens fine wing play which led to St Peter's third goal as he ran Uniteds defence ragged before forcing them into conceding a corner. Jake Stimsons pin point corner met the head of inspirational skipper Luke Atkins.

That was the last action of the game in what was St Peter's most dominant performance to date. They now sit sixth in the table and go into this weeks cup game against CCK II in fine spirits.
