The club would like to be able to manage the grass parks and changing facilities that our players rely on for matches and festivals

In light of the recent publicity regarding South Lanarkshire Councils intention to potentially close some local sports and recreation facilities due to severe budget constraints we at Strathaven Dynamo will be submitting an application to take over the maintenance of the John Hastie and Kirkland Park football pitches. This offer would include the current changing rooms that we would look to upgrade as they currently only have 1 shower in each changing room and no accessible facilities. We fully appreciate all the hard work SLC have done in maintaining these pitches / facilities to date but sympathise that there is only so much they can do within their budget constraints. Our community football team, Strathaven Dynamo AFC, holds the highest SFA accreditation available to a community club and as such have access to all sorts of funding opportunities that can enhance and improve the football facilities available in our town. We would hope to gain the support of the community in our quest to obtain both these contracts on a lease basis.
We fully appreciate that both facilities are used by the wider community and not just for football. We would like to assure everyone that we are not building a 60,000 all seater stadium and the parks will still be open for everyone to use. We have spoken with local groups such as the Gala committee and the Balloon festival to give them guarantees that there will be no affect on these events as they are critical dates on our community calendar.
We would invite any queries or questions for anyone who is concerned about this application to be sent to our committee e-mail address strathavendynamoafc@gmail.com and we will chat through each one individually to try and allay any concerns.
