v KFU: (h) 8th August 2017 L 0 - 3

We welcomed KFU for our second game of the season, and our first of the new season under the lights at home. Like ourselves, KFU enjoyed a good season last year and finished 4th place behind us only on goal difference, so again so quickly in the season we were up against potential promotion contenders and for some added spice, former sutts keeper dean james was in the away line up. We started the game brightly and were seemingly In control and the first real chance came in the 15th minute when longhurst was put through by evans only to find dean james race out and produce a fine save when a goal seemed the likelihood. This seemed to spur on the travelling team and for much of the remaining half hour of the first half KFU took a foothold in the game, picking up second balls and creating problems down the flanks with their pacy and direct wingers. We saw out the half to go in at 0-0. In all honesty, the 2nd half started much the same and Matt bishop produced some fine saves. We were finding it hard to create any real chances although we did manage a couple of efforts but again, james was a match for them. Midway through the half however, KFU took the lead following a decent finish from just outside the box. The game was still in the balance but a mistake from Mirlo 10 mins from time and KFU took advantage to extend the lead to 2-0. Again, james pulled off another save from newman before KFU sealed the game with a 3rd from the spot after millsy had committed the foul.

All in all a disappointing result but to be fair, KFU probably deserved it albeit the score line was flattering.
