Swanage women finally played their first match of the season away at Broadstone in the hardball league. There was supposed to be a second game against Puddletown but sadly they were unable to field a team. Swanage bolstered by 2 players from Bere Regis.
Batting first Swanage found it hard work against the tight bowling and long outfield. A few late boundaries increased the score and Swanage ended up on 229. Broadstone really attacked the bowling getting the ball aerial to increase the scoring. Swanage's bowling improved as the match continued, as did their fielding but Broadstone were much the stronger side ending up the victors by 112 runs.
Lots to work on, but for a new hardball team not a bad start at all.
