Saturday 19th November was a very cold day, but despite the cold lots of people had braved the weather to cheer on both teams.
The U16's took to the field first and played the first 20 minutes, they came off with the score at 0-0 being replaced by Swanley FC volunteer adults.
It was clear that having never played together before that STC were going to have an advantage and sure enough they were creating chances for fun.
Sooner or later the goals would follow and by midway through the second half STC were 3-0 up.
Our volunteer adults were now feeling the game and lack of fitness was starting to show, so we made the decision to slowly put the U16's back on.
They game then changed with the U16's running at STC and started to find some cracks.
JO got one back, 3-1.
SF added another 3-2.
SF again run past STC defence to collect a through ball 3-3. STC claimed offside in vain and the goal stood.
CB then hit a rocket from the edge of the area 3-4. Could they hold on for the victory ?
With minutes left a goal from an unlikely source, the Mayor popped up in the box to mishit a shot past the keeper, 4-4.
So the final whistle went and perhaps the right result in the end.
Many thanks to all the players from both sides who braved the cold and later the rain to play in the first ever Charity game. A huge thank you to all the supporters who came out to show their support, the atmosphere was fantastic.
Thanks also to Dan and the employees at STC who worked hard to arrange the game and give up their free time to make it a success.
In the evening we had a celebration disco, raffle and the presentation of awards.
Supreme Engraving had donated 2 glass MOM awards, 1 for each team.
The STC Award went to Bradley Smith, the Swanley FC Award went to Steve Moss-Orpin, well done to both players.
So a great day ended and it seems everyone enjoyed the day, hopefully not to many of the adults will be walking wounded on Sunday.
