Sevenoaks distance themselves from league rivals in dominant display.

It was a Saturday to forget for the Swans who came into the game with the same unbeaten record as their opponents. However considerable improvements will need to made if they are to mount any challenge for top spot this year.

Hampered by injuries and unavailability led to makeshift changes across the team and the Oaks wasted no time in exploiting that weakness by pinning Swanley on their own tryline for large periods of play. Swanley were starved of any real possession and on the occasions they did win the ball back, it was quickly handed back to Oaks through handling errors.

Sevenoaks made hard work for themselves trying to barge through the centre of the park. It didn't last long, as they ventured and succeeded to expose the wings which was where the majority of their tries were scored. Swanley didn't gain any traction in their attack, void of any game plan and the set piece provided very little clean ball for the back line to work with.

The second half saw the introduction of man of the match Keith Ashburn on the wing and flanker Sean O'Reilly joined James Yates in the centre's. The tactical change saw a vastly improved defensive performance and Sevenoaks found it tiresome to score another two tries. Swanley had a few bright spells themselves, Guy Cook looked like he was to add to his try count before knocking the ball forward on the tryline. Paul Hately broke the gainline with a fantastic dummy, found James Yates whose pass to Ant Sumbler bounced off a retreating Sevenoaks defender. The referee judged the pass forward, which pretty much summed up Swanley's afternoon.

Credit must be given to the Swans who turned up and battled on to the end despite a demoralising score line. There is a mood in the camp and a determination to set the record straight in next weeks game against New Ash Green.
