The sun shone brightly at The Cloughan, Ballyclare on Sunday (June 9) for Templepatrick Cricket Club's annual Under 11 Cricket Blitz and Family Fun Day.
The event saw more than 130 P1 - P7 boys and girls from the home club and CIYMS take part in a series of keenly contested Kwik Cricket games. There was also a bouncy castle, inflatable slide, face painting, a BBQ and other attractions to keep the crowd of all ages entertained.
Andy McCrea, the club's Cricket Development Officer, said the event had been a fantastic success.
"We have a great youth setup at Templepatrick, with over 100 under 11s attending our coaching sessions each Wednesday evening. But it is important for them to get out and meet children from other clubs and play against other teams, so this was a great experience for them, from the P1s right up to the P7s," he commented.
"We are extremely grateful to CIYMS for coming along and taking part in what was a great day. The weather was fantastic, the kids had a lot of fun playing cricket and it was a great opportunity for us to showcase what Templepatrick Cricket Club is all about - a really community-focussed, family-friendly club."
Andy thanked the PSNI for sponsoring the event through its Community Funding Scheme, the club coaches, members and parents who volunteered their time to help out on the day, and all those who came along and helped make the Blitz such a great success, particularly the young players and their families.
