Goals from Gary Skerritt and Sam West give Tilbury their first win of pre-season!

Tilbury 2 - 1 Bethnal Green United
Skerritt (3)
S.West (45 pen)

Tilbury played Essex Senior league boys Bethnal Green United and dominated early on. The Dockers got their reward within three minutes as a low Kevin Malthouse cross from the right was diverted into the path of Gary Skerritt who fired the ball low from the edge of the area past the on-diving goalkeeper. Tilbury dominated the half and was lucky not to add to their one goal already tallied. On the verge of half time, Emile Atkin got himself into the box only to see his eventual shot blocked and handled by a Bethnal defender. Defender and captain Sam West took responsibility and stepped up to fire his penalty low and past the goalkeeper despite him guessing the right way.

In the second half, Tilbury made changes and looked solid without coming out of second gear. Both teams were unlucky not to score in the second half however, Bethnal Green got stronger in the latter of the half and got their rewards four minutes from time when a mistake from stand in goalkeeper John Bruly. Bruly got caught in possession and lobbed from a wider angle in the box to get Bethnal a consolition. Paul Vaughan's men looked much stronger, solid and organised and with the season getting nearer and still missing players such as Gary Henty, Billy Crowther, Tom Webb, James Marrable, Harry Cook and Kurt Hunsu last night the side still will be stronger come the start of this new exciting season.

Tilbury - Bruly, Mead, Nightingill, S.West (Dickerson), Matthews (Waters), Barnes (Bostry), Malthouse, Skerritt (Good), Harrison, Bryant (Mbiyeye), Atkin (J.West)
