The first ever Devon Walking Rugby Festival was held at Topsham RFC on Sunday 12 August 2018. Despite the sudden change in the weather it turned out to be an excellent day.
Sadly no other Devon sides were able to take part (although we did have some visitors from Dartmouth who were able to participate in a short demo game after the main event). We had invited visiting sides from Bristol Pioneers and Kingswood (two sides) and fielded a first and second team ourselves making a five team round robin competition. Sadly Salisbury and Gloucester were not able to make it.
There was a good standard of rugby played in a friendly but competitive manner and the eventual winners were Topsham Fossils 1st team, runners up were Kingswood Old Kodgers Brown team (Kingswood play in brown and blue stripes), with the fair play award going to Bristol Pioneers. The cups were presented by Treve Mitchell, president of Devon RFU.
