Toulouse traveled down to Eymet on an overcast day with the chance of some showers in the air for their second semi final of the year hoping to tun the tide on a good Eymet side. James , his new squeeze and myself had the pleasure of listening to Steveo raconte his past glory days of fish n chips , beer and more beer stories. I'm still a bit confused if I should cry, laugh or be proud of him? Thanks for that entertainment Steve.
So anyway, TCC won the toss and elected to bat first on a damp outfield, D Johnson and R Johnson opened the batting and it wasn't long before the first wicket fell fell, Dave dragging one onto his stumps, Naga went in and steadied the ship . Robert and naga built a little partnership before Robert was bowled by a good one. Rayhan wasn,'t patient enough and tried to swipe one and he too was back in the pavilion fairly quickly. Brett came in next still hindered by a nagging calf that won't heal and scored 4 before being clean bowled by an unplayable delivery. The old TCC collapse looked on the cards again but James certainly out to impress his new blond goddess looked surprisingly technical and played some nice shots with Naga to move the score surely but slowly. Naga was looking very good and is obviously the second best batter in our club atm, he played some beautiful shots and looked on top of the menacing Eymet attack, he was out to one of those incidents that can only be described as ass. The keeper was standing up to the stumps to a speedster, Naga tried to turn one down leg slide, the keeper didn't glove the ball but he might say different, the ball ricochet onto the stumps apparently while Nagas foot was in the air for half a second.
If hawkeye was there we would've certainly called for it but Naga accepted the decision as the gentlemen he is and walk off for a classy 56.
Dawkins, Nitish and Samuel were all dismissed while only adding 3 extra to the total, Taxman and Christophe added some resistance towards the end with Christophe striking some nice boundary's, Taxman spooned one, steveo was next and after he hit a few singles he spooned one also and TCC were all out for 156 in 39 overs.
Not a bad score considering where we were and the conditions that were on the ground.
Teas were served some tasty chicken and rice dish.
TCC opened with speed and spin, JD and Naga opened proceedings and were unlucky not to have picked up some wickets, Naga dropped a flying second slip catch that would've dismissed the dangerous Nicolson , Naga was bowling ok but as the ball got waterlogged his effect was nullified. Their two openers were going along nicely before they tried to take on the arm of J Dawkins, he got the ball back to Sam pretty quickly and Sam did a great job of getting the bails off to remove their captain. They were 1/79. So as the afternoon went on our bowlers didn't have the speed or skills necessary to test Eymet and they continued on unfazed until Rahan took a catch dismissing Jones to put Eymet at 2/130. A couple of dropped catches from Brett and Taxman wouldn't of changed much as Eymet were well on course for victory. Eymet got the runs in 34 overs and didn't look like in any stage that they were under pressure. The ball turned into a heavy slippery piece of leather for both teams but Eymet were able to handle the conditions better than us.
Well done everyone on getting this far this year, we've had some fun and our behavior on and off the field has been outstanding all of our matches have been played in good spirit which makes for enjoyable cricket.
