Trethomas started the much brighter side and created several decent chances in the first 20 minutes but were unable to score.

Gomer flicked a ball on and Young was through on the angle left hand side. His shot was saved and the rebound fell back to Young who squared the ball for Rees and his shot was blocked on the line. Davies played a ball into Gomer who laid it off to Rees who shot just wide. Chepstow had a couple of breaks but nothing to trouble Williams in the Bluebirds goal.

Young linked with Ashman but his cross was cleared. Gomer then had a shot on the turn that went wide and then Colwill shot wide after good work by Duncan.

As the half wore on Chepstow started to get a foothold and should have taken the lead when first a shot from the edge of the box and then a free kick were both saved by Williams. However he was beaten minutes later but the ball stayed out as it hit the post after the Chepstow striker miss hit the ball from 5 yards out.

At the other end an Ashman free kick was headed down by Young and Colwill shot was cleared off the line. Rees then had a shot blocked close to the line and Gomer had another shot just wide.

Trethomas then had a penalty appeal turned down after Rees looked to have been tripped as he took on the last man. Young then played a cross field pass to Ashman whose shot was tipped over.

Just as we seemed to be heading in at 0-0 a long ball was played down the right and the cross was met by the Chepstow striker to fire home 0-1

Half Time 0-1
The 2nd half started in much the same way with Trethomas in the ascendancy. Edwards had a shot blocked after a lay off by Young. Then a Gomer header was cleared following an Ashman cross.

On 60 minutes it was 2-0 as Jackson was disposed just inside his own half and the striker still had plenty to do drew Williams and chipped it over his head into the net to make it 0-2.

Trethomas hit straight back Williams threw the ball out to Ashman who ran into the opponents half before laying a pass into Gomer who held the ball up and returned the pass to Ashman who curled a shot into the far corner to half the lead 1-2

Trethomas then made a double substitution 67 minutes with Rees and Ashman replaced by Hughes and Horwood.

Both players were immediately involved as Horwood played in Hughes whose shot was excellently saved low down by the keeper and from the resulting corner another Hughes effort was blocked.

Chepstow were then awarded a penalty on 75 minutes as Hughes was adjudged to have pulled a player back. Hughes received a yellow card and Chepstow scored from the spot to make it 1-3.

Gomer was then substituted for Frazer but not before he picked up a yellow card for kicking the ball at an opponent.

Both sides had further chances Williams making a couple of saves whilst Davies had a shot saved, Colwill stuck a header wide and Frazer put a shot just wide. Young was booked on 88 minutes. Trethomas had a couple more efforts with Horwood and Colwill both shooting wide.
