Wood Green Preview – May 2016
Ah Wood Green, surely amongst our favourite opposition on the club calendar. Such is the excellent link between the two clubs, this will be the third year in a row that Wood Green (who are based in Hampshire and not North London for those newer members) travel to London to play us as part of their tour. We of course reciprocate in our Spring tour later in the month.

The form guide: Thanks to Sunday’s win over Deando Ruxley, Trinity are now aiming for a hat trick of straight wins. Wood Green’s Friendly XI are three matches unbeaten based on their results at the end of 2015.

Head to Head: Dating back to 2006 the teams have played ten times over the last decade.
LLLWLWLWLW, Wood Green narrowly lead this 6-4, but if the last six games are taken into account its honours even.

Top totals:
The 2014 tour’s high scoring affair where over 400 runs were scored in a day remains a highlight. Trinity made 206 all out but couldn’t defend the Wood Green onslaught who notched 209-4 from 33.2 overs. Tony Springer and Wood Green’s Josh Bishop both made centuries that day.

Survivors
Chris Seymour has played in the last nine games scoring 70 runs in 7 innings and has taken 5 wickets at 52.6.

Oddities: We’ve batted first on eight occasions of the last ten contests.

A personal view.

The fact that a team is prepared to go on tour and have us a staple fixture is a wonderful thing in my opinion. It is testament this great club and the wonderful people we have within it. Plus Wood Green happen to be a brilliant group of chaps. Who can forget this classic post match drink-up singsong with Chris and Tony (sorry Chris…I know you hate me for filming this!!!). Good luck to both sides, and if you are from Trinity and aren’t playing, then do pop down and watch and have a drinkie poos.
