U16s set off to Luton early doors on Sunday to play Stockwood Park. Harrison was back from his broken finger but Kaya, Daniel and Jack L were still carrying injuries. With a few others missing in action, we had a squad of 16. Thank goodness for the fab three U15s who all made the journey up the M1.
A win would make it 4 from 4 in the HML. A tough game was warned by fellow coaches in the division. And you could see why as they played a very strong looking set of forwards with probably the biggest front row we've played against all season.
An error strewn opening 5 mins saw both teams with possession but unable to retain the ball. However the strength and confidence in defence that the boys have developed started to get us good ball. The tactic to keep the ball alive on a dryish day was starting to play into our hands and we grabbed two quick scores. Just when it seemed like we were in for an easy ride, we immediately conceded from the kick off after some indecision from the restart and a bizarre backward header. However more possession and good play saw the Ts extend the lead before halftime.
The second half was more one-sided with the Ts now sticking to the game plan and keeping their concentration to notch up another four tries to run out 47-7 winners. Jack T recovered from the header to bag two very well taken tries. Jack C was on the score sheet again after another great bit of possession. Ethan was a constant threat and scored a fabulous long range effort, plus was involved in many of the other scores. Conal got one and Jacob finished off another two moves with great style.
Conal kicked 6 from 6 and if I'd been paying attention Ethan would have bagged a conversion as well (sorry mate). Conal got player of the match.
