Uddingston made it 2 wins on the bounce on Saturday when they travelled to face Cumbernauld, returning with all 5 match points and a convincing 24-63 victory.
The Villagers got off the the quickest of starts with Ruairidh Anderson crossing the try line within the opening minute. His successful conversion opened up a 7 point lead. Dom Crichton extended the advantage on 5 minutes with his first try of the season, before Ross McKeown made it 17-0 on 17 minutes.
Cumbernauld got themselves into the scoring on the half hour mark but the Villagers hit straight back, this time it was Blane Anderson who secured the try. As the first half headed towards the break the Villagers added a further 2 unconverted tries through Andy Watson and Greg Alston to bring the score to 7-32 after the opening 40 minutes.
The second half started in much the same fashion as the first with the Villagers scoring after 2 minutes of the restart, Josh McPhail claiming the try, with Anderson adding the conversion.
Cumbernauld picked up their second try of the afternoon before the Villagers maintained their control over the game with Alan Paul crossing over in 51 minutes and Anderson adding the conversion.
Cumbernauld took a step closer to the 4 try bonus point with a 3rd try on 53 minutes but Uddingston hit straight back with an Anderson double, Blane and Ruairidh to push the score to 19-58.
With the time running out the Villagers rounded off their afternoon with a second Crichton try but the last word went to the hosts, crossing over on 80 minutes for their 4th of the afternoon, and what could prove to be a very important bonus point.
The emphatic 24-63 score line reflected the excellent way the Villagers controlled and dominated the match, and their desire to play open running rugby.
Next Saturday, 23/09, Uddingston play their first home fixture of the campaign, hosting unbeaten Bishopton at Castle Policies. Kick off at 3pm.
