The Villagers made it 2 wins in 2 weeks on Saturday when they travelled to Clydebank to face last season's West Division 3 champions Glasgow University Medics
A strong start saw the Villagers first on the score board when Crichton dived over in the corner for a 5-0 lead. It didn't take long for the Villagers to extend their advantage with some excellent interplay between forwards and backs. Breaking out from deep inside their own half it was B Anderson who rounded off the move to touch down under the posts. C Quinn made sure of the conversion, giving Uddingston a 12 point cushion.
Not to be outdone, the Medics fought their way back into the game, and two tries from their wingers, neither converted, narrowed the gap back to a 2 point game.
With half time approaching it was Uddingston who pushed ahead. Again it was good pressure from the forwards that allowed Boyd to appear on the overlap and cross out wide. The conversion fell short and the Villagers went into the break 17-10 ahead.
If Uddingston thought they had the game under control, they were mistaken. The Medics came out for the second half ready to play, and 2 tries in the opening 15 minutes saw them move into the lead for the first time in the match at 20-17.
This was the wake up call the Villagers needed and they started to get back into their groove. McFadden was first to cross the line, latching onto a pop pass off the deck to burst through from 20 metres out. C Quinn was on target with the conversion and the Villagers had their noses back in front 20-24
The final try of the afternoon went Uddingston's way with L Quinn rounding off some tight interplay to fight his way to the line and ground the ball in the tackle.
This should have been a more comfortable victory, but 5 points away from home is never to be refused.
Next Saturday, 08/10, the Villagers are back at Castle Policies where bottom of the table Strathendrick will be keen to pick up their first win of the season. Kick off at 3pm
