Its been over a week now since the killer mole viciously attacked Uddingston groundsman Paul Hoffmann, but attempts to capture the little furry beast have failed.
Hoffmann usually captures renegade moles within 48 hours of setting a trap, however on this occasion the killer mole, dubbed "CLAWS", has given the Rockhampton born groundsman a bum steer.
Hoffmann has become increasingly frustrated by his failure to capture the lethal animal that has been terrorising the neighbourhood. However, there are rumours that the mole may have been eaten by a sneaky fox after getting a claw stuck in the trap. This theory has some credence, as no fresh mole hills have been spotted for the last four days.
Mole expert Alan Turner said, "There is a small possibility the mole may have been taken by a fox, but indications are that the mole has burrowed deep underground to start mating. This is the time of the year moles mate, so that their offspring are ready to start burrowing in the warm soils of summer.
Turner continued, "If I was Hoffmann, I wouldn't panic too much. In about a week the mole will resurface to continue its killing spree, so there's a good chance the trap will work as it should."
*Please note, there will be no further mole updates until the mole is captured.
