The Club is saddened to announce the passing of long time Rangers’ stalwart Edward Marsh. Affectionately known as ‘Zipper’, 87 year old Edward had a long career at Underbank as a player, strapper and ‘rub down’ guru with his magically potent tiger balm, supporter and life member. Edward, a cousin of the late Bob Marsh, another Underbank legend, was an all round sportsman of some repute and a man of many talents. He was a soccer goalkeeper, cricket wicketkeeper and crown green bowler where he was affectionately known as ‘Noddy’. Edward will be sadly missed on the touchline and in the clubhouse on match days, and the Club’s condolences go out to all of his family and friends. Edward’s funeral will take place on Thursday July 13th at 1-15pm at Huddersfield Crematorium followed afterwards at Underbank’s clubhouse.
A minute’s silence will take place as a mark of respect before the start of tomorrow’s game to commemorate Edward’s life in conjunction with that of the Culcheth Eagles’ player 31 year old Adam Cooper who tragically passed away during a game last weekend.
In memory of his father Andrew Marsh will deliver the match ball to the teams prior to the kick off at 2-30pm.
