City booked their place in round 2 of the league cup after a stunning performance against Dram FC down at Walton Lane. With just 4 minutes on the clock Bloomfield put the hosts one up with his fourth penalty in two games. City were dominating every area of the pitch and moments later it was two. Aaron Hurst creating a yard of space for himself and firing a low shot into the bottom corner. On 16 minutes Bloomfield added City's third and already the game had been won. Dram couldn't cope with the hosts pace out wide, time after time both Southward and Rawson delivering delicious crosses for City's front two to feed on. Andy McManus added number four after springing the offside trap to waltz unmarked and beat a helpless keeper. Bloomfield completed his hat trick after 33 minutes with another composed finish and Hurst scored City's sixth and seventh in the space of 3 minutes with a couple of sublime strikes. There was just enough time for the impressive Ollie Rawson to stride past his marker down the left hand side before cutting inside and smashing an unstoppable shot into the far corner to record City's eighth.

The game was well and truly over and the only thing that manager Vigars drilled into his players at the break was not to let the tempo drop and to keep playing at the same level. The boys didn't let him down as Hurst completed his hat trick on 54 minutes. Bloomfield then scored his fourth and City's tenth with a cheeky finish following more good work from Rawson. Paul Scott, who was completely running the show from central midfield, then helped himself to a goal with a tidy finish from fully 25 yards. On 74 minutes City hit their twelfth of the afternoon when Hurst again strolled through a deflated back four to calmly slot home. Bloomfield who had tormented the Dram defenders all afternoon helped himself to another two goals within the space of 3 minutes before another Hurst strike and a fantastic goal from Ryan Barker brought the curtains down on an absolute drubbing.
Following a fantastic and near perfect performance the MoM award was shared by Bloomfield & Hurst
