Wally Beaten By Champs

A much changed Wallingford side fall to heavy defeat against league champions London Lions.

Wallingford got an early goal against the league champions thanks to Kingston Nyanney in the fifth minute. Wally were getting away plenty of shots but London Lions were clinical on the counter and quickly drew level. It wasn't long before the hosts got their second goal and despite the slow start they were now in the lead.

A mistake at the back allowed the clinical champions to increase their lead but despite the scoreline Wally were still fighting back and another good shot from Ty Hamilton was this time tipped over the bar. Wallingford then conceded a penalty for what was deemed to be a handball but the shot from the spot couldn't be converted.

The visitors thought they had got a goal back but the referee judged it had not crossed the line and Lions swiftly went up the other end and scored their fourth of the day. A great strike from Charlie Silkstone heading into top bins was spectacularly saved by the keeper to maintain their three goal lead.

The second half began with yet another goal to the champions which saw their tally rise to five. Another penalty was awarded to London Lions but this time it was slotted home putting them well in control. A mix up in defence saw the hosts further increase their lead and a third penalty gets their eighth and final goal of the day.

Despite the scoreline Wally fought until the end and even had one cleared off the line in the dying moments of the game. With the league season now over Wallingford finish third on 79 points and a big congratulations to London Lions who have won the league with an outstanding 100 points.
