Despite their name London Lions are based in Hertfordshire. In fact their ground is not far from our league opponents Hadley, in Arkley on the southern boundary of the county. A history going back to 1995 has seen them suffer promotions and relegation; and transfers from one league to another and back again.

In spite of it all they have been steadily building a ground fit for Step 5 football and now occupy a place in the Spartan South Midland League's premier division. Last season saw them finish in a comfortable mid-table position but some way behind the run away league leaders Real Bedford who we will face in league games this season.

The meeting will be our 218th game in the senior cup after our first in November 1893. I suspect the Lions have yet to reach double figures for matches in the same competition.
