Ware eased through this game with goals from Robbie Buchanan, whose 29th minute goal was his first for the club, and Jason Hallett who scored twice. The first came ten minutes after Buchanan’s and the second on 82 minutes.

Only four substitutes were named by Paul Halsey but there was still an air of pre-season about the game with Reece Crowter being taken off at one point before returning later for a second spell on the pitch. Part of the reason for the rotation was minor injuries to some players. Halsey was unwilling to risk further problems with an FA Cup game in the offing.
