I’m bound to point out that we are still waiting for our first home win since April though the risk is that this puts to much pressure on the side to do well. All we want is for the team to relax and play the kind of football we’ve seen already this season even if it’s only once paid off.

Barton got off to a slow start to the season, losing their opening two games before a 2-0 win at North Leigh eased their sorrows last week. After conceding nine goals against Hadley and Real Bedford without scoring that win must have been a relief. For what it’s worth this early in the season, they are equal on points with us though we have a game in hand.

There is no further news of full backs Stef Georgiou and Ben Siggers who were both missing from our last game due to injury. With Jon Clements unavailable due to a long standing engagement, Paul Halsey will want to boost his attacking options and avoid starting with Joe Dearman at fullback as happened against Brentwood. We await news from the treatment room. Meanwhile, who will replace Clemmo as striker?

Paul will be giving his views on recent games in the programme which will also include a number of interesting articles. There are no youth games yet but last season’s results and tables will be in the programme. Which also reminds me that the Under-18s start their FA Youth Cup campaign at Wodson Park on Wednesday, September 4th against St Margaretsbury, kick off is 7.45pm.
