Monday is Derby day as we make the short journey to Hertingfordbury Park. Ware are fresh from a good fight back to beat Barton Rovers on Saturday whilst Hertford are yet to win this season. Their latest setback being the weekend’s penalty shootout defeat away to Biggleswade in the FA Trophy, coincidentally played at Barton Rovers’ ground.

If all that makes you confident of Ware extending their winning run over Hertford to five matches and their unbeaten run to thirteen, take a deep breath. Leaving aside the prospect of unlucky thirteen, plenty of those matches have been close with Hertford sometimes deserving more than they got. They have the ability to upset us and will be hoping to do so as many in our own young side face the derby atmosphere for the first time.

To combat that Ware will have the experienced Jon Clements available after missing Saturday’s game whilst Mitch Hahn’s performance in that match, his first of the season, suggests he too can be a steadying influence in midfield.
