Put the Sunday lunch on hold, we’re off to play Aylesbury though not in Aylesbury. The Ducks continue to ground share with Chesham and they are at home to Bath City on Saturday.

We’ve been there before on a Sunday. Back in October 2021 when we went down by 2-1 though Aylesbury’s generous match report suggested we had been the better side. Even so we have failed to get more than a draw from our subsequent meetings, that being last season’s goalless encounter.

It may not be any better this season with Aylesbury having made a good start to the campaign. They’re fourth in the table backed by what seems a tough defence. Just three goals have been conceded in eight games. By contrast we have shipped 13 but at the other end we have scored 18 whilst Aylesbury only ten. It seems to point to another close game.

We do need to get back into the swing of winning games but an away point is always acceptable. Whether we can do it may depend on who is available though we made a good fist of a difficult game at Bedford last week with numerous injury problems so why not again?

If you can’t make it to Buckinghamshire there’s always football at Wodson Park where there are two youth games on Sunday. Both are in the opening rounds of the Herts Cup with the Under-16s meeting Chorleywood Common at 10am and the Under-14s taking on Welwyn Garden City at 2pm. You know what I’m going to say next – entry is free and the clubroom and tea bar will be open.
