This may be the last Saturday with any hint of the summer that has just gone. Perhaps that’s not so bad as we look to recover from a frustrating run of results. Working against that are Thame United who will be expecting to consolidate a good start to the season which included their 3-2 win at Wodson Park on the opening day.

But if we have a bad run to put behind us, they have a bad result that needs to be exorcised. Their 7-2 undoing at Real Bedford last week must have been a shock but it means that we have a meeting between two sides whose morale is in need of repair.

Paul Halsey will be hoping that he can approach that task with a few more of his squad available. Whether David Sota has finally made it back from injury to get a place on the bench and likewise Sam Mayuma; or if Mackye Townsend-West is available after his international duties in the Caribbean, I can’t say for sure but I know their presence would make a difference.

The weekend’s football is completed at Wodson Park on Sunday where we have three youth games starting at 10am with the under-18s at home to Hackney Wick followed at midday with the under-13s meeting Harpenden Town. Finally at 2pm the under-15s entertain Northwood. By now you won’t need me to tell you that entry is free and that the clubroom and tea bar will be open throughout but I can’t stop myself.
