With a visit from North Leigh it’s hard to dispel the memory of the promotion play-off final in 2022. The visitors’ victory was in one of five meetings between us so far, none of which have resulted in a home win. That season’s regular league games were both scoreless whilst last season’s ended in 3-1 wins for the travelling sides.
We will be hoping to consolidate our position in the table by scoring a first home win in the series. Meanwhile “The Millers” are looking for a third win on the trot at Wodson Park as they fight to get away from the bottom of the table.
Our last home game brought Northwood to Ware who were in identical circumstances to North Leigh. They pulled clear of bottom place with a 1-0 victory, we must hope the same does not occur this weekend.
Ware should be able to field a reasonably strong side with recent signings George Ironton, Jack Grosvenor and Theo Ofori properly reintegrated in the squad after last week’s draw at Flackwell Heath. There is no reason to think that they won’t be in the team again this week, especially as Mackye Townsend-West is again playing for Montserrat in the Concacaf Nations League.
Mention of that is a reminder that this is an international weekend with no Premier League games. It’s a chance for you to persuade those followers of the top sides that this is a good opportunity to support their local side.
That opportunity carries on into Sunday when we have two games at the Park. The under-13s face Colney Heath at 10am and the under-16s meet Welwyn Garden City at Midday. Entry is free and the club room and tea bar will be open throughout.
