Friday night football is something of a novelty though Cheshunt experimented with it some long time ago in an attempt to boost their attendances. No such reason lies behind this change of date only the need to avoid Saturday’s closed roads as the village of Kings Langley celebrates the switch on of its Christmas Lights.

This will be the fifteenth meeting between the two clubs including the first in 1899. Surprisingly this will be only the fifth at Kings Langley where we are still to win. In what’s been a challenging season so far Ware are looking for their third successive undefeated away game and for that matter their third successive undefeated league game at any venue.

Last Saturday we saw signs that Ware are returning to the kind of form that we have grown used to in recent seasons. They did so without Mackye Townsend-West and the injured Jon Clements both of whom may now be available.

King’s Langley warn that parking is limited at the ground. Their website gives advice on local free car parks in the village which are in the region of ten minutes’ walk away.

So you have Saturday off for Christmas shopping leaving you free on Sunday for the three youth games at Wodson Park. Kicking off at 10am are the under-18s who face Potters Bar Town in the Herts Cup. At midday we have the under-14s meeting Edgware & Kingsbury in a league game followed at 2pm by the under-16s who entertain Harefield United also in a league game. Entry is free and the tea bar and club room will be open from 8.30.
