Saturday, 15th February at Wodson Park SG12 0UQ;
Pitching-in Southern League Division One (Central); kick off 3pm.
Printed programme on the gate for £1.50.
Leverstock Green will be making only their second appearance at Wodson Park on Saturday. Their only other visit was in the FA Vase first qualifying round on September 9th 2000. Fraser Higgs scored both goals in a 2-0 win. It didn’t do us a lot of good as we went out 4-3 in the next round to Chatteris Town (Ian Hart, Micky Jarrett and Andy Walker were our scorers).
We didn’t meet “The Green” again until the 2014/5 Herts Senior Cup when Jermaine Osei scored our goal in a 2-1 away defeat. It was Jermaine’s only goal in 13 appearances for Ware, ten from the bench. Jon Clements made up for that defeat by heading in the only goal of our league game in October of this season.
Now we meet again with home advantage though we have learnt this season that points can be hard to come by at the Park. Both sides are looking for their first win of the new year with Leverstock Green now ten games since their last three points. But they have notched two good draws in their most recent outings and look like they might be hard to get the better of. It's all building up to a good contest on Saturday.
There is another match after the game if you want to stay on. St Margaretsbury meet Cannons Wood in the Thurlow Nunn League. St Margaretsbury are having problems with their showers at the moment and cannot play their home games at their own ground. Kick-off is at 6pm.
And of course, if you can’t get to the match you can still pick up the excellent live commentary from Pete Hill and Symon Allemandy at 90minuteslivefootball.mixlr.com/events/4043675 starting from 2.55pm.
There are two youth games at Wodson’s on Sunday with free entry, and the club room and tea bar open throughout. Kicking off at 10am the under-13s play Cockfosters whilst the under-17s meet Ilford at midday. You could also get to the county ground at Letchworth where the under-16s play Potters Bar in the county cup final at 2.30.
