Watlington Town Over-40s became the inaugural winners of the Oxfordshire Veterans League's new Over-40s division with an emphatic 5-0 win over title rivals Haddenham on Sunday. A stunning strike from Nick Cowen, an own goal, and then a hat-trick from Andrew Hiblen sealed the win in impressive fashion, all goals coming in the second half.

The win caps off what has been a fine league season for Town, winning the division with a game to spare having suffered just one defeat, and with the team still competing on two fronts with a cup semi-final to come in April.

The management team of Richard Evans, Martyn Newbold, Keith Woolfson and Gary Deighton are delighted with the team's progress so far, with the team having formed less then a year ago but quickly finding its feet to turn in a number of impressive performances this term when it mattered most.
